The Chicago Statement
on Biblical Application

See the Position Statement web page "The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy" for an introduction to the three "Chicago" Statements.

The two previous documents, The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, and The Chicago Statement on Biblical Hermeneutics, appear on this web site in the form as found in James Montgomery Boice, Standing on the Rock: Upholding Biblical Authority in a Secular Age, Kregel Publications, 1998, complete with the Exposition at the end of each document. For some reason, The Chicago Statement on Biblical Application as found in Boice does not include the Exposition. What appears here on this web site is the Statement as shown in Boice, pp. 179-193, but supplemented with the Exposition as readily found on the internet and marked on the bottom of each page with "The original document is located in the Dallas Theological Seminary Archives." See, for example, http://library.dts.edu/Pages/TL/Special/ICBI_3.pdf. In my view, the Exposition associated with each of the three Chicago Statements add a good deal of insight and information to each Statement, and help make it clear as to why these Statements are as important as they are.
